Top 10 Tuesday : Backlist Books That I Have Recently Added to My TBR

It's been a hot minute since I did a Top 10 Tuesday and I am very excited to be back. This week we are talking about new books we added to our TBRs. I am going to be talking about the backlist books that I have recently added to my Goodreads "want to read" self. All of these books are 2016 releases or older. Let's get going.

  

The Smell of Other People's Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock - I just added this book to my TBR a few minutes ago. I heard about it from looking at other people's wrap ups. It's an adult contemporary that takes place in Alaska. 

The Post-Birthday World by Lionel Shriver - Another book added due to someone's wrap up. My favourite way to find new books. This one follows a women who cheats on her husband and the story follows what happened after but also the alternative time line where she didn't cheat. It sounds interesting and it got added.

Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel - I added this one because it's a SciFi written by a Canadian author. I have heard lots of good things about it so it's on my TBR.

  

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot - I added this after I heard a few people talk about it last month. It's about Henrietta Lacks who's cells were taken to create HeLa cells. I am a scientist so I think this would be an important read for me.

Shockaholic & Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher - After reading The Princess Diarist I need more Carrie Fisher in my life. Right after reading it, I added both her other memoirs onto my TBR and I can't wait to read them.

   

Every Falling Star by Sungju Lee - This is a memoir of Sungju and his story about trying to survive in North Korea then escaping. I have a few memoirs from North Koreans on my TBR and I seriously need to try them out. 

The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith - I recently read The Cuckoo's Calling and really enjoyed it so the rest of the series is now very much sitting on my TBR.

The Fireman by Joe Hill - When I went to add this book I didn't really remember what this book was about. This is a book about a plague that causes people to burst into flames. Plagues intrigue me so I am going to check this one out.

Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese - This book is another important book in Canadian Literature. It is about the 1960's in Canada and residential schools. I need to read this.

Top 10 Tuesday: Books on my Spring TBR

TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

I love making TBRs but I never seem to keep them. I am such a mood reader that can never stick to anything. This spring is going to be a pretty crazy time for me. I am finishing university, moving and going on a cruise. I am excited to see what spring brings and here are the books I hope to read.

  

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst - I got this one on an Amazon Daily Deal recently and I can't wait to read it. It was one my most anticipated released from last year.

The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson - I am planning on read this this when I finish school. I'll have lots of time to dedicate to this once I finish exams.

Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch - I need to read this book! I don't know why I haven't already. I am excited to see how this series ends.

  

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir - Another book I grabbed off an eBook deal recently. I enjoyed the first book and am hoping to read more soon.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - I read Crown of Midnight last summer so it's time that I continue on with this series. I have been hesitant after many people haven't enjoyed the newest releases but I still want to make my own opinion.

Stolen by Lucy Christopher - I feel like this one has made a few TBR lists. I keep forgetting I have it, so it's time I read it and not forget anymore.

   

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda - This book has had a ton of praise and it sounds like a great book to bring on vacation with me.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer - This is one of the series that I am determined to start this year. At the moment, spring seems like a great season to get started! 

The House of Hades by Rick Riordan - I am determined to finish reading this series this year, so I sound continue on with The House of Hades soon.

The Leavers by Lisa Ko - I received this for review and it comes out in May. It sounds really interesting so I need to check it out.

Top 10 Tuesday: Top 10 Favourite Romances in Books

Happy Valentine's Day to all! I hope you are spending it with someone you love, even if it's your dog, cat or bookshelf. I am one of those people who loves romance, especially in my books. But I am also someone who hasn't really gotten into the romance genre. I love my romance with some magic and swords (at the moment anyway). Let's talk about my favourite romances from books. 

There may be SPOILERS for romances later in series, you have been warned.

Delilah Bard & Kell Maresh

I generally love Lila as a character. Younger me would have looked up to her so much. I love that they kind of have a will they won't try relationship. I am a fan.

Blackheart & Goldenlion

We may never have been straight up told that they end up together. You can just tell how much they love each other but won't admit because Goldenlion is suppose to be a hero and Blackheart is suppose to be a villain. I loved it!

Feyre & Rhysand

Yup, I am one of those people. I secretly loved Rhysand after ACOTAR and then obviously all my dreams came true in ACOMAF. 

Lia & Rafe

This was a pretty fantastic series, and I loved Lia & Rafe. They always put themselves or/and their countries first. They had good heads on their shoulders but still loved each other. 

Vin & Eland

I have no idea why, but I just got attached to both of these characters so much! I only have read The Final Empire, so I don't know if I'll love them through the whole series. However, after this first book I am a fan.

America Singer & Prince Maxon

This is the ultimate guilty pleasure series for me and I was addicted to The Bachelor-like plot. It was like watching The Bachelor but more exciting. America and Maxon were super adorable which kept me addicted to the series.

Princess Buttercup & Westley

I always feel like I am cheating when I talk about this book because I love the movie so much that I might be impairing the way I read the book. But I don't care because it is so good I will never shut up.

As You Wish!

Mal & Molly

This entire series is amazing but Mal and Molly make it so stinking cute it hurts. I love when they protect each other during adventures. All of these characters are fantastic and I love it.

Jody & Tommy

Have you ever wanted vampires and humour in one book? This is for you. It's also a love story. Jody and Tommy just work so well together and have plenty of great banter to keep you giggling.

Iseult & Aeduan

This is cheating because I don't think these characters are even romantically together. I am half-way through Windwitch so I can't say what happens at the end but as of right now they are not. Sam from ThoughtsonTomes from Youtube has hooked me on these too and I want them to be together so bad.

Top 10 Tuesday: Books I Need to Read by the End of 2017

This week is a Freebie Week, so I want to talk about the novels that I need to read by the end of the year. I am going to focus on books that I own that have been sitting on my TBR for what seems like forever. My current goal is to cut my TBR pile down by 20 books, so here are 10 books of those books.

I got this book from one of my first Book Outlet orders. This is when I ordered every popular book I could find off Book Outlet. I am still interested in reading this book, it's just that I have been in a huge fantasy mood lately.

This is one of the oldest books on my TBR and I am determined to get it off of it this year. I haven't been into SciFi lately, and this one just hasn't called to me. Hopefully, I can pick it up and get it off this list.

Another Book Outlet purchase. I don't really know where I stand with the Mortal Instruments series, so I want to try The Infernal Devices series to see if I enjoy that one better. It's a lot of people's favourite series so I am excited to read it.

I loved The Selection, so naturally I wanted to pick up the continuation of this series. However, it's been put off for a long time due to lots of negative reviews. I still want to give it a fair shot and need to read it by the end of the year.

This is one of my oldest eBooks, and I am surprised that I haven't read it yet. It's a story that really intrigues me and I need to get it off this huge TBR of mine.

This book has been everywhere since I started in the book community. I picked it up on an eBook sale and it's been sitting on my eReader for years. This typically isn't the type of book I am into, but I also think that I might really enjoy it if I give it a proper chance.

I love books about cults and religious sects. This one has been sitting on my TBR for ages and I should have read it ages ago. This is something that I normally really enjoy so I need to read it and get it off my TBR.

I have been slowly working my way through this series and I bought all the books that were out at the time. I really liked the first 2 books, but have been scared to continue based on recent reviews of the later ones.

Another book that was popular back when I first started in the book community. However, my tastes have changed since then and I haven't been into paranormal books. But this one has amazing reviews and I would like to try it out before Laini Taylor's new book.

I remember one of my teachers reading this in high school. I has been sitting on my TBR since then. Like most of my eBooks I picked it up during an eBook sale. I haven't read a lot of literary fiction that I have loved recently so I need to try out some more to find what I really love.

I currently have 111 Books on my TBR Pile. I would love to get it back down to a manageable level. In an ideal world, I would like it to be only a few books. However, I can't read 111 books in a year but I want to really try to get it down. My current goal for the year is 20 books less, or about 90 books. Wish me luck!

Top 10 Tuesday: 2016 Releases I Meant to Get To But Didn't

This week we are talking about the 2016 releases that we really want to read but just haven't got to yet. I broke up my to-read shelves onto more organized shelves so my to read 2016 publication shelf is pretty huge. So here are the 10 books from 2016 that I still really want to read. 

  

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake - I just picked this up on a sweet eBook deal for only $2.99. I can't wait to read it very soon.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab - Victoria Schwab became my new favourite author this year so I was pumped when this was also on a sweet eBook deal. Definitely now on the top of my list.

And I Darken by Kiersten White - My library has some copies of this and I have tried to get it a few times. Something else kept getting priority but still on the to read list.

  

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst - I have been excited for this titles for awhile now but it was only recently released. It will be one I get from the library soon.

As I Descended by Robin Talley - This one is another one I will likely get at the library someday. Seems up my alley.

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis - I have seen this on a few people's best of 2016 lists. It's getting a higher place on my TBR soon.

   

Adnan's Story by Rabia Chaudry - I just finished listening to the podcast Serial so I want continue more into this case. It's a crazy case and I would love to hear more.

Wenjack by Joseph Boyden - This is an incredibly important Canadian book. It's about residential schools; it's the true story of a boy who tried to make his way back home but didn't make it. I am currently on hold for it at the library so I will read it very soon.

In The Country We Love by Diane Guerrero - I have heard lots of people talking about this one this year. Especially with the current climate, this story is extremely relevant.

A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy by Sue Klebold - I read the book Columbine by Dave Cullen last year, and I think hearing Dylan's story from his mom would be eye opening to mental health issues and grief.
