Descender Vol 2: Machine Moon

I am really happy I picked up this series. It's a really good story following a robot in a universe where robots are outlawed. The story is very interesting and the art work is very unique. The art does take some time to get used to but it really does suit the story. Also I never knew I could care so much about a tiny robot. If you are into SciFi I would recommend this series.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Vol 3: Squirrel, You Really Got Me Know

Squirrel Girl is the most refreshing superhero ever. This series is hilarious and I am already excited to pick up the next volume. This one jumps back in time, and it's a pretty interesting arch but not my absolute favourite from this series. I love how Squirrel Girl will tweet with Tony Stark and The Hulk on twitter, it's just awesome.

Saga Volume 3

This series is very much growing on me. Enough so that I bought the rest of the series that is current released, ooops. Anyway, this was another good installment to the series. So far I have enjoyed each volume more than the last. I highly recommend if you are looking for a SciFi graphic novel. This one was kind of slower than the first 2 volumes, but I really enjoyed that aspect and getting to know our characters better.

Descender Vol 1: Tin Stars

The second volume of this series was nominated in the Booktube SSF Awards so I wanted to see what the fuss was all about and picked up the first volume. I did really enjoy this book, and found the conflict to be very compelling. The art style in this one was kind of hard to get used too but after the first issue I was really into it. I recommend if you want a science fiction comic.

Ms. Marvel Vol 5: Super Famous

I forgot how much I adore this series! I didn't realize how much I missed Kamala until I started reading this volume. Mr. Marvel is a full Avenger now and is trying to balance everything. This is another fantastic volume in this series and if you haven't already check out Ms. Marvel, I highly recommend.

The March of the Crabs Vol 1: The Crabby Condition

I received a copy of this book from Boom! for an honest review. This is a quirky book. It follows a group of crabs that cannot change direction. This is a funny little book and I haven't read anything else like it. I enjoyed the characters, I could put myself in their shoes and realize how mundane their lives would be. As a biologist, I definitely giggled while reading it. If you're looking for something completely different, check this one out.

I love this series! It's hard for me to say a lot about this volume because spoilers BUT it was fantastic as always. I liked learning more about the history of the camp and the adventure in this volume was pretty crazy. The characters in this series are absolutely amazing. Read it!

This is officially my favourite graphic novel series. Everything about it is so quirky and I love it. You get some good quality time with Mal and Molly in this volume which was fantastic. It was a crazy adventure like always and if you aren't reading this series, then what are you doing?

I haven't picked up a volume of Chew in ages and I have really been missing out. This is another fantastic series that I need to sit down and just work on finishing. I am getting close, kind of. This volume focused on Toni, and she is awesome. Another comic book series that I recommend to everyone.

This volume got hella dark. Every volume worse and worse things keep happening to these characters. They are all dark characters and it's an interesting point of view to read from. Lots of blood and murder. I have been enjoying this but am still not completely blown away.

The publisher provided me with a copy of the first issue of this series and I adored it so much that I picked up all the singles that are currently available! This series is hilarious and endearing. It reminds me a lot of Lumberjanes, in that it follows a quirky group of characters that have ridiculous adventures. I highly recommend checking this series out. The art and the colours are awesome. I can't wait to finishing reading the issues that I haven't got to yet.

Goldie Vance, Volume 1

This is an adorable comic. I love the setting and how Goldie is an aspiring detective. It's a great all-ages comic that is still engaging for all readers. The mystery in this arch was interesting and it felt high stakes. I highly recommend this comic series to anyone who is tired of superheroes and wants to try something new. AND as an added bonus, there is an LGTB romance blooming!

I wasn't sold on this series after the first volume but this book hooked me into the series. I had been putting it off reading this volume forever but I am really happy that I finally read it. I understand why so many people love it. It's a fantastic story line and the characters are so likeable. I am really excited to pick up the next volume in the series.

Deadly Class Vol 2: Kids of the Black Hole

This is a dark series and this second book also hooked me onto the series. The characters are very flawed and they are at a school where they are becoming assassins. This volume ended on a chill hanger so volume 3 is sitting and waiting for me to read it. This series has a much different art style than all of the other comics I read which makes this one stand out.

Gotham Academy Vol 3: Yearbook

This volume was better than the last one, thankfully. I hadn't really enjoyed Vol 2 very much so I was happy to see this series to get back on track. I love the characters in this series, which is what kept me reading. I enjoy the art style in this series. It's colourful and suits the tone of the story. I am excited to read the cross-over with Lumberjanes.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 2: Squirrel You Know It's True

If you aren't reading this and you love spunky superheroes, check it out! Squirrel Girl is a funny different take on being a super hero. I love her attitude and I love how this comic is progressing. The art is bright and eye catching. If you are looking for somewhere to start to the Marvel Universe this is a good place to start.

I Hate Fairyland, Vol 1: Madly Ever After

I Love Fairyland! This book was amazing. I laughed the whole way through. Gert is terrible, in all the best ways. It's a gory but bright and funny comic. I don't know how those all fit together but they do. I don't know if this is the comic for everyone, I am partial to offbeat humour and a little gore so this book was up my alley. If you ever wanted to know what it would be like if Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed an animated movie, it would be I Hate Fairyland.

Moon Girl and the Devil Dinosaur

I read the first issue of this months ago and I was excited to pick it up as a trade. I love the idea and it was a pretty good story. However, since it is part of the marvel extended universe I felt like I was missing some info. Devil Dinosaur is a previous character with a backstory and you should probably know a few things about the Inhumans before jumping into this one. I am still planning on picking up the next one though, definitely a different story.

Gotham Academy Vol 1: Welcome to Gotham Academy

This was an awesome book. I loved that it was kind of a mystery ghost story, and at some points it even reminded me of Scooby-Doo. The art in this was very well done and I really enjoyed the start of this series. There is still a lot to learn about the characters and the school and I am excited for the second volume to come out.

Chew Vol 4: Flambe

I love this series, it's so unique. The story keeps taking weird and hilarious turns. There is always hidden gems in the art work that plays homage to pop culture. Some of the side characters play a bigger role in this one and it was awesome. I can't wait to pick up the next volume! I don't know why I haven't yet.

A badass women superhero that is part squirrel and who has an equally badass squirrel as a pet, now that's an awesome comic. I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants a fresh superhero, this is funny, adorable and awesome.

Ms. Marvel Vol 4: Last Days

This might be my favourite series right now. It's awesome and it has heart. I had the silliest smile on my face the entire time I was reading this book. It was exciting and I am actually connected to all the characters. I absolutely love the family dynamic and the possibility of romance. If you aren't reading this series, do it! On a side note, this book has 2 issues of Spiderman at the end which I didn't enjoy as much. However, I am not including it in my rating because it's not part of the series.

Through The Woods

I read this one for Halloween, which is an awesome time for reading creepy graphic novels. This one was really nice to look at and the art was amazing. However, I didn't find any of the stories actually super scary. They are interesting and if you like creepy stories that play with your mind than this is an awesome graphic novel for you. However, if you are looking for straight up horror, this may not be it.

Ms. Marvel Vol 3: Crushed

I am still in love with this graphic novel series. Kamala is so relatable even if she is a super hero. In this volume we start to get into the world of boys which I really really enjoyed. I did find it a bit predictable but it was still really exciting and awesome. Also, Loki is a special guest which is super cool. I like cameos in my comics, what can I say. If you haven't started this series, check it out!!

Chew Vol. 2: International Flavour

This shit is dark and I love it. In this series,when Tony Chu eats anything he knows that happened to it before it died. Also, chicken is illegal. This series is just too awesome not to read and it has such awesome story lines. This volume wasn't as awesome as the first volume but I still has so much fun. I can't wait to see where this story goes. This one took place on an island and there is an introduction to am mysterious plant which I want to know more about! I am planning on grabbing volume 3 soon!

I am terrible at reviewing graphic novels, so I decided just to do quick thoughts on all the ones that I read. Here are my thoughts on the last 2 that I read recently.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2: Angela

I felt lost during this volume of GOTG. The story took place after Age of Ultron and I haven't read that comic/seen the movie yet; therefore, I didn't get the basis of the story line. Besides that, I enjoyed Guardians. I love Groot and Rocket Racoon. They are the reason I picked up this series. I wasn't a huge fan of the character Angela, I really think she needs some more clothes but that's what you get in the comic book world. The art style in this volume was done by a different artist for each issue. For me this kind of added to my confusion. Many of the styles were quite different and I would prefer continuity throughout, but all of the art was amazing and I applaud their work. This isn't the best but still fun none of the less.

Ms. Marvel Vol 2: Generation Why

I really love this series. Kamala is so relatable but badass at the same time. I love that women are being represented more in the comic book world in the hero role. This volume specifically, was fun and fast paced. I enjoyed the guest appearances from other Marvel characters and you get some new insight on Ms. Marvel herself. I am very interested in seeing where this story goes. The dialogue was smart and funny. Kamala is a smart ass which I appreciate so much. I also really enjoy that her family is included in the story. A lot of times, hero's don't have any connections so it's a nice change of pace. I definitely recommend this series to everyone!
